Gratitude

As we journey through the month of July it is wise to truly engage all the senses in the garden.  From the scent of the roses blooming to the feel of the grass on the soles of our feet to the taste of the first raspberries of the season.  Not to mention the sites and colours of the growth in the garden.  As the lavender starts blooming I am remembering all the trips to the lavender farms with my mother.  Those were great memories.

During times of grief it is good to reach out back to those good memories and relieve them and savour them.  Happiness is fleeting and remembering snapshots of happier times can help us move through the difficult ones.  Time is very precious so we need to be mindful of how we spend our time.  However often just a simple thing like sitting outside and listening to the sounds of nature can ground us and make us more mindful and grateful of how truly lucky we are.
