Tangled

As we meander through the last weeks of January and the cold, snow and harsh winter continues, it is often a difficult time to push through our tangled thoughts.

Navigating multiple losses makes things a bit more difficult.  Once a friend drifts away, we feel that loss immensely.  Often it is harder to bounce back from these losses no matter how hard we try.   However, one does not need to get over it.   Rather than pushing yourself to just move forward , it is a time to be kinder to yourself.  Let yourself feel the emotions.

Resist the urge to push your thoughts to the back of your mind, just let them be.  Notice them, label them 'thinking' ...and let them pass.  Having some fluidity to letting things arise then, breathe into the sensation or emotion and watch it pass.   These are some of the things I have learned from Joseph Goldstein's teachings.  Emotions are just temporary and even as hard as it may be right now just wait a bit and the emotion will transform into something new.
