Often we overlook the benefits of rest as we work ourselves to the bone during the week and struggle to jam every possible chore into our weekends. However, rest is much needed not just in the evening. Sometimes our body needs time to reset and to adjust to our multiple stressors. Make some time for a time-out during the day. During this time just be with the breath and your body and try to actually rest your mind for a bit. Make sure your phone is turned off so you can truly rest and reset a bit.
As we lose an hour today, find some time to do something that brings you joy. Try a slower pace and do not try to do everything today. For today let some things slide... there is tomorrow. Take advantage of the warmer, dry weather and go for a walk, do some exercise in nature.. or simply investigate what is going on in the garden. I am happy to report my mint is still alive and I can see some green on the roses so, hopefully the winter kill is not too bad.
I recommend the new meditation app -The Way. I have tried it for a few nights and it is very good and it is very calming. Be kind to yourself as meditation is a practice and perfection is not the goal. Returning to your breath, letting your mind drift away.. but bringing it back to the breath is what matters.
